Award-winning watercolour artist Heather Delaney will be tutoring a one day watercolour workshop focusing on grasstree landscapes. This event is hosted by Beachmere Art Society inc. In this beginning to intermediate class, you can expect the following
- Learn how to set create a beautiful background with texture, movement and light.
- Use everyday items to make strategic marks.
- Harmonise colours to create a cohesive work.
- Form details that will build your subject.
- Use linework to express detail of your watercolour.
- Add personal creative flair to your watercolour piece.
- Use masking fluid to block out and as a painting tool.
- Learn how to use your palette to create a professional painting.
Heather Delaney is a talented, expressive watercolour artist. She is the winner of the Fabriano in Acquarello 2020 and a category winner for the Brisbane Macgregor Lions Art Extravaganza 2019. Her studio is based in Scarborough, QLD and her art is inspired by the Australian landscape.
This course is catered to beginners and intermediate students, so student grade and professional grade kits can be used. Bring with you.
These items are required by all participants.
- Your usual watercolour kit, range of brushes and mixing pallette (white, warm and cool reds, blues and yellows)
- Half sheet or A3 size rough or cold pressed watercolour paper.
- Board to accommodate sheet
- Notebook and pencil (for notes and drawings)
- Masking tape (1/2 inch, plain)
- Masking fluid
- Tissues, old towel, washer and/or sponge
- 2 containers for water
- Object for leaning artwork at 45 degrees
- A packed lunch. Cafes are open until 12pm.
Beginners Student Pallet
- Your usual watercolour kit should include white, black, warm and cool reds, blues and yellows,
Intermediate and Advanced Pallet
- Cerulean or Cobalt Blue, Ultramarine Blue, Alizarin Crimson or Magenta, Primary or Lemon Yellow, Burnt Sienna, Raw Sienna, Burnt Umber, Paynes Grey, Indigo
